Atlanta Black Crackers ’38 mini helmet

Year(s): 1938 Atlanta Black Crackers: This Southern based team concentrated their play in Birmingham, Nashville, Little Rock, New Orleans, Mobile, Memphis and Chattanooga.  They played in Atlanta’s historic Ponce de Leon Park when the white minor league Crackers were out of town. This cap was wom by the 1938 team which captured the second half championship of the Negro American League. Ther top players were Nat Peeples, Roy Weimaker and James “Red”  Moore, “Chico” Renfro started here as a batboy. They played in the Negro Southern League in 1932 and in the Negro American League in 1938.
