Kansas City Monarchs ’48 mini helmet

Year (s): 1948 Kansas City Monarchs: The Monarchs were one of the best known and most successful Negro Leagues teams. They captured ten pennants, tying the Homestead Grays for the most flags. In 1948 the Monarchs won the second half of the split season but lost a seven-game playoff to the Birmingham Black Barons and missed a chance to appear in the last Negro World Series. The Monarchs played in the Negro National League from 1920-1930 and in the Negro American League from 1937-1960. This cap was worn in 1948.
