Kansas City Monarchs ’53 mini helmet
Year (s): 1945 (road) & 1953 Kansas City Monarchs: In 1945, this cap was worn by future Brooklyn Dodger great Jackie Robinson in his only season with the Monarchs and later in 1953 by Mr. Cub himself, Ernie Banks. Other stars who wore this red crown of glory were John “Buck” O’Neil, Jesse Williams, Hilton Smith, Jim “Lefty” LaMarque, Othello “Chico” Renfroe and Jackie’s first pro manager Frank Duncan. The Monarchs played in the Negro National League from 1920-1930 and in the Negro American League from 19371960. This cap was worn in 1945 and 1953.
